| In 1665
it came into being in France, as the Compagnie de SAINT- GOBAIN,
by order of the King Louis XIV, working together with his powerful Minister Colbert, with
the object of producing mirrors for Versailles Palace. In the course of time, the company
started exploring other possibilities, dealing with new activities and establishing itself
everywhere in the world. SAINT-GOBAIN
is now a multinational group, well-known
as a manufacturer of engineered materials. Being diversified and leader in all of its
activities, the Group transforms long-known materials such as glass, cast iron, plastics
and ceramics. The use of such materials together with three hundred years of knowledge and
experience have been essential to meet the increasingly diversified and sophisticated
needs of the modern market with success. |
